Scholarships

Not all of our cadets are on AFROTC scholarship, but there are a number of scholarship opportunities available for those who qualify. Listed below are a few of the scholarhships available to AFROTC cadets at Colorado State University.

High School Scholarships

High School Scholarships are the most common scholarship awarded to cadets. The application process begins in high school and involves a number of factors including GPA, medical screening, SAT / ACT scores and a fitness test.


There are several types of High School Scholarships available, offering the following benefits:

  • Up to full tuition coverage

  • Monthly stipend

  • Book stipend

In-College Scholarships

In-College Scholarships are similar to high school scholarships in terms of what they offer, however there is no application process. Rather, In-College Scholarships are awarded to active cadets based on merit. 

Detachment Cadre will nominate cadets once in the spring and once in the fall based on academics, fitness, and leadership potential to compete on a national board.

This in-college scholarship is awarded to all individuals not already on scholarship who receive an enrollment allocation and thus are selected to commission into the Air or Space Force. It pays $18,000 per year for two years and cannot be applied to graduate studies.

Housing Benefit: Any scholarship awardee will be allowed to convert their award for a $10K-per-academic-year “housing scholarship” used for on-campus housing. This is for room only; board is not included, and the conversion must begin at the start of the fall academic term if exercised.

Presidential Room and Board Stipend

Unique to CSU, High School Scholarship recipients have the opportunity to compete for a CSU presidential award, granting up to $8,000 towards housing fees.  

This stipend is awarded for academic excellence in high school, and CSU awards the stipend accordingly.

Eligibility Criteria:  Must live in CSU residence halls, pass Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA), meet Air Force body fat standards, maintain term/cum GPA over 2.5, and not be on academic probation/suspension.

Memorial Scholarships
