Opportunities
Fly, Fight, and Win with Det 90!
FLY!
Cadets at Det 90 have unique opportunities to get in the air!
Civil Air Patrol Orientation Flights
Thanks to our local Civil Air Patrol (CAP) unit, Det 90 cadets have the unique benefit of up to four free flight hours in a civilian aircraft with a certified flight instructor.
You Can Fly Scholarships
Det 90 receives up to $35,000 each year to distribute to deserving cadets for training hours at local flight schools that will go toward their Private Pilot’s License (PPL).
Incentive Flights
Cadets occasionally have the opportunity for familiarization flights in military aircraft. We have had cadets fly in fighter jets, helicopters, and cargo aircraft during base visits and as part of flyovers of CSU football games!
Certified Flight Simulator / National Drone Certification Training
The Detachment has paid for over 100 hours of instruction for cadets to earn hours toward their PPL and/or their National Drone Certifications.
Fall FTX
In the fall, cadets have the opportunity to attend a one-day FTX focused on teaching cadets tactical combat casualty care (TCCC) as well as other skills.
Spring FTX
Cadets test their tactical training and leadership during the multi-day spring FTX, participating in land navigation, TCCC, tactics, obstacle courses, leadership challenges, and a capstone exercise.
Internships
Internships, like this one at the Pentagon, give cadets unique experiences and help prepare them for their Air Force careers.
Specialized Training
Cadets also have the opportunity to gain new skills with specialized training, such as combat survival training at the academy pictured here.
FIGHT!
Cadets at Det 90 have the opportunity to participate in field training exercises (FTX), base visits, and other professional development opportunities!

WIN!
Det 90 cadets proudly carry on traditions like the Bronze Boot Run.
Bronze Boot
Dating back to 1968, the Bronze Boot trophy goes to the winner of the CSU-Wyoming Football Game. Before the game every year, Army and Air Force ROTC cadets from both schools meet at the state border and run the game ball from there all the way into the stadium before the game!
Tri-Det Field Day
Annually, Det 90 challenges cadets from Wyoming and CU Boulder to a Field Day competition. Since we are located between the two other schools, we get typically get home field advantage and compete for the Tri-Det trophy and bragging rights.
Push-Up Crew
Det 90 cadets celebrate CSU success on the football field along with Army cadets! Cadets complete push-ups for every point scored.
Awards Ceremony
Cadets are recognized for their accomplishments during the annual award ceremony! This boisterous celebration is the best way to end the year!
