There are several Memorial Scholarships available to Detachment 90 cadets in addition to AFROTC scholarships. These scholarships are funded in part by Detachment 90 alumni and are awarded to deserving cadets at the end of each year. They help us to remember those who have come before us, and how they still impact our lives. They honor officers who have come through and commissioned from CSU since it was founded in 1870, over 150 years ago. 

1st Lt. Michael L. Lacy
1st Lt. Michael L. Lacy

First Lieutenant Lacy graduated from CSU in 1996 with a management degree. He passed away in 2000 while stationed at Aviano Air Base, Italy. 

Funded by his family, this scholarship awards $1,000 to an AS200 or AS300 heavily involved in detachment activities.

Captain Greene
Capt. David B. Greene

Captain Greene graduated from CSU in 1984 with a sociology degree. Captain Greene was assigned to the 920th Air Refueling Squadron at Wurtsmith AFB, Michigan where he died during a training mission on 11 October, 1988.

This scholarship awards $1,000 to support an Air Force veteran and AFROTC cadet. 

Second Lieutenant Kirsten L. Tool
2nd Lt. Kirsten L. Tool

Second Lieutenant Tool passed away in an accident while stationed on active duty in Germany. She was a Colorado State University alum and a 1988 ROTC Distinguished Graduate.

The Tool family established this scholarship with hundreds of individual contributions in memory of their daughter. It awards $1,000. 

Captain Mark Giles Danielson
Capt. Mark G. Danielson

Captain Danielson’s mother established this scholarship endowment in memory of her son, who attended both Colorado State University and the University of Northern Colorado, earning a degree in Marketing. Stationed in Thailand, he was aboard an AC-130 gunship when it was shot down over the jungles of Vietnam on 18 June, 1972, and remains missing. It awards $800. 

First Lieutenant Eriks L. Sudmalis
1st Lt. Eriks L. Sudmalis

First Lieutenant Sudmalis is a 1992 graduate of CSU and Detachment 90. Eriks died in 1996 while on active duty. In his memory, the Sudmalis family established this scholarship to recognize a cadet who demonstrates superior qualities of honesty, integrity, and leadership, which Lieutenant Sudmalis personified. It awards $500.

Col. Bob Arnold

Colonel Arnold is a graduate of CSU and its ROTC program. This scholarship is awarded to cadets who have demonstrated honesty, integrity, strong leadership characteristics, and enthusiasm for serving in the Air Force.

This scholarship awards $2,000 per AS class. 

Colonel Russell G. Havinghorst
Col. Russell K. Havinghorst

Colonel Havighorst is a 1914 graduate of CSU. This scholarship recognizes a a freshman for academic achievement, participation in ROTC, campus activities, and interest in a military career.

This scholarship awards $600.

Captain Bruce L. Cardy
Capt. Bruce L. Cardy

Captain Cardy is a 1964 ROTC graduate of CSU. He spent 3.5 years as a launch control officer before he earned his pilot wings in 1968. He was lost on 6 October 1969, in Vietnam. His mother established this scholarship in his memory to recognize a cadet with leadership ability, personality, character, and combat pilot potential. It awards $800.
