Detachment 90 is home to over 200 cadets, all of which are students in Northern Colorado. Cadets are enrolled in Colorado State University, the University of Northern Colorado, Aims Community College, and Front Range Community College. We come from all sorts of places and backgrounds, but we all share one common goal: To become officers in the United States Air Force or United States Space Force.

Colonel Gregg Johnson
Commander, Detachment 90
Professor of Aerospace Studies
Col Johnson is the Det 90 Commander and chairs the Department of Aerospace Studies. He received his commission through AFROTC Det 90/Colorado State University and has over 3,600 flight hours, primarily in the C-17A Globemaster III. He has commanded at the squadron and group levels, and served Joint tours at USTRANSCOM and the Office of the Defense Representative-Pakistan.
Major Blake "Nacho" Friend
Recruiting Officer (RO)
Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies
As the OFC, Maj Friend oversees all professional military and developmental training. This includes being the key advisor on all cadet-run operations, including Leadership Lab (LLAB) and Physical Training (PT). By trade he is an airborne missile operator and nuclear command and control expert who earned his commission through AFROTC Detachment 90, right here at Colorado State University. Go Rams!
Technical Sergeant Reyna Camille
NCOIC, Administration Management
As the NCOIC of Administration Management, SSgt Camille oversees all cadet actions within their four-year lifecycle as cadets. She joined the Air Force in 2013 out of Colorado State and has completed her Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. She has been selected to work in various high level positions at McChord AFB, Ellsworth AFB, and has plans to commission as an officer in the Air Force.
Lt Col Benjamin Fulk
Operations Officer (OPS)
Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies
As the EO, Maj Fulk coordinates AFROTC educational requirements with CSU, UNC, FRCC, and ACC. He is a weather officer by trade and has served with both the Air Force and Army (pictured here supporting an airfield seizure exercise in Bulgaria). He earned his commission through AFROTC at North Carolina State University in 2006.
Captain Shelby Kniss Education Officer (EO) Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies
As the EO, Capt Kniss coordinates AFROTC educational requirements with CSU, UNC, FRCC, and ACC. She is a Weather Officer, earning her degree in Meterology from the United States Air Force Academy. Capt Kniss’ most recent assignment was with the 89th Operations Support Squadron where she led a 20-person flight providing weather services in direct support for the travel of the POTUS and VPOTUS.
Captain Corey DeGroot
Operations Flight Commander (OFC)
Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies
As the RO, Capt DeGroot oversees all recruiting activities at Det 90. Capt DeGroot is a Civil Engineer officer by trade and earned his commission through AFROTC Detachment 90 in 2014 following service as an enlisted Airman. Engineers lead the way!
Technical Sergeant Cornell Frazier
NCOIC, Personnel Management
As the NCOIC of Personnel Management, TSgt Frazier oversees personnel actions for Det 90 cadre and cadets. He hails from The Bronx and spent his first 12 years as a structural craftsman and deployed to Iraq, Qatar, and an undisclosed location. TSgt Frazier earned CCAF degrees in Construction Technology and Human Resources and he also has an Associate’s Degree in Science.
